Dear Host Family,
My name is Danielle, I’m 26 years old and I’m from São Paulo, the biggest city from Brazil. I live with my mother, Angela, who is a pharmaceutical and I also have two brothers, both are younger them me. Lucas, the middle brother, studies production process and works in a financial bank. Felipe, the youngest brother, studies social science and works in a public bank. We live so happy together, in a family with solid values.
I’m already graduated in advertising and marketing. I write texts to a web site of collective purchasing, named Bom Proveito! I’m a working person, dedicated, lovely, friendly, communicative, calm, and happy.
When I’m not working I like to go out with my friends, listening to music, singing (inspite of don’t do it very well), reading a good book, writing poems, swimming, treating and colorizing images in Photoshop, dancing and I love to spent some time with my pets. I have three cats (Kitty, Penélope and Polaco) and a dog (Bobby). They are so cute and I really love them a lot.
Taking care of children is a constant thing in my live. When I was 10 years old I used to play and help with my little cousin. In every family’s party I used to be called to help with the kids. After this I had begun to do voluntary work with my mother. We used to visit some day care centers and poor communities to help kids. We feed, bathe, read stories, played games, cleaned up the mass and a lot of others activities.
The year that I began my college, I had to choice between studies and keep my English classes. I wanted to do both, so, while my mother paid my graduation, I taught English to two kids’ classes in return of my course. I loved to do that. In my classroom I used to teach basic words, give some draws to paint, do some origami, play songs, read with the children, watch cartoons and organize them to the break.
In the following year, I backed to the voluntary work. I started to read stories in the church to poor kids and organize some parties. I collected clothes and toys to give as gift on special dates and holidays, like Christmas and October 12th (in Brazil we call this date “children’s day”). In this year I’ve done some college papers about how can the television changes the kids behavior and a campaign to awareness children about the importance of recycling and how to help with the environmental problems, also focused to the kids.
From 2008 until now, I take care of Camila, my friend’s sister, on weekends. I need to bath her, help her doing the homework, play games, read, feed, clean up her bedroom and go out with her to take a walk. Sometimes I sleep in her house when her parents need somebody to take care of her in the night while they are out.
From the beginning of 2010 to the middle of 2011, I worked as voluntary in a public project, doing playful activities with the children and teaching basic English.
I really loved to have all this experiences. I learned to express myself better (make me understandable) and realized that take care of kids can be a grateful job, principally when you see all of them growing up and returning all the attention you gave.
To be an Au Pair will be a very wonderful experience. I’ll have the opportunity to do something that I like so much and, not only know a new culture, but also improve my English. I’m always ready to learn about everything, and I want to upgrade my knowledge of the American way of life.
I know I’ll learn a lot with you and your child or children. I want to do my best for the family and I’m sure I can be a great Au Pair. I’ll put your kids in first place, help them with all they need and also show a little of the Brazilian culture, that is so rich.
